Childhood walk – updated

Branscombe Mouth down in the valley
The way it was told in family history was that Poppa Peter took us little grandchildren for a walk one day – and at the end we each had an ice-cream.  The memory of the walk is lost on me but the place names linger monumentally.  So this holiday I decided to walk the walk!  From Branscombe to Beer, from Beer to Seaton.  My goodness there was a lot of up and down in that walk!  There was also a lot of mud, and there were glorious views of the South Devon coast.

These walks are part of the South West Coastal Path, – I’m not sure if that’s the route we took all those years ago – part of me hopes not as the path gets very, very close to the edge of the cliffs – not really suitable for young children!

From where I was staying in Beer, I had to walk to Branscombe first – and the views were amazing.
